At a recent fund-raising event, handlers explained that the President was too busy pan-handling fat-cats and bragging about Osama's demise to issue a response on the newly-passed bill. Asked upon boarding if he was aware of Air Force One's next destination, Obama replied only that he "thought we were headed to some sort of talk show, or rapper event". The current wereabouts of Air Force One are not known at this time.

US Congress Should Stick Up for Itself, Give Obama a Good Swift Kick in the Ass.
(Or do they prefer to follow Captain Ahab to the bottom of the Ocean?)

Mainstream political reporters and pundits -- as well as the President himself -- seem to have forgotten something they used to teach when I attended school: That the US government has three different branches, the Executive, the Legislative and Judicial, and that each of these branches were intended to serve as checks and balances on the others. Instead it now seems to be assumed that the President is the head of the Legislative Branch (Congress) as well as of the Executive, and is entitled to issue to Congress commands and directives, to define the legislation that Congress is to consider, and in short to tell Congress what it is supposed to do.

A case in point is the ongoing fiasco of Healthcare "Reform". Mr. Obama seems determined to drive the entire US Congress off an electoral cliff like so many deranged lemmings, rather than admit what is otherwise obvious, that Americans do not cotton to his brand of "reform" and in fact resoundingly reject it. Yet the most our despairing Congressmen/lemmings have the spine to do is to resign from their seats. Instead, congressmen should consider doing what they were hired to do -- act like an independent branch of the government, listen to their constituents -- and to tell the President to take his heath "reform" and shove it.

Congress has not only a right, but a duty, to ignore the President's increasingly out-of-touch commands and choose their own legislative agenda, one more attuned to the desires and needs of the American people -- one focused on the Economy and Jobs. The President is not the President of Congress, and ceasing to pretend that he is will enable Congressmen to disassociate themselves from his increasingly mad, Ahab-like quest to slay the Great White Whale of socialized health care. Recall that in Melville's Moby Dick, the monomanic Captain Ahab ends his quest by sinking his ship, destroying himself and his crew -- and the whale gets away.

Instead of resorting to these continuous resignations, some Modest Steps Congressmen might take towards regaining their statutory Independence of the Executive might include:

Remove the Partisan Hack and left-wing radical Nancy Pelosi from control of the House of Representatives. Nancy is like a mini-Obama in her policies, only worse, and seems to have no sense whatever for either public opinion or bipartisanship with non-radicals. Pelosi's current position is clearly a case of "having the patients running the asylum".
Order the Capitol Police to prevent Rahm Emanual or other Obama hacks from approaching closer than 150 yards to the US Capitol building.
Politely and respectfully inform the President that Congress welcomes his input on the legislative items chosen by Congress, after Congress has put these items into the form of draft bills, but that Congress does not welcome his presuming to issue commands as to their priorities. (Ie, Kick his Ass OUT of the direction of Congress's work.)

Unfortunately, given the President's recent behavior, the only alternative to such an independent course seems to be that Congress continue its current downward arc into chaos, driven on a mad voyage by a monomanic Captain whose commands are increasingly divorced from reality.

The Presidential Crap Machine hit a small speed bump when Represenative Joe Wilson of South Carolina could not contain himself during one of the more glaring misrepresentations and shouted

"You Lie!"

While factually correct, this is a breach of etiquette for which Rep. Wilson (unlike the people who used to insult George Bush) has already apologized. However, as fair as I'm concerned, its about time sombody said it! Kudos to you, Rep. Wilson!!! We are as sick of the Wonder Boy's lies as you are.

His body not yet cold in the grave, Congressional Democrats today discussed the disposition of Ted Kennedy's Senate locker, his parking spot, and notepads and markers found in his desk. Also on the agenda was whether to use Kennedy's memory in promoting the failing and unpopular American Health Wreckovery bill. The suggested plan would rename the bill the "Liberal Dinosaur Health Act" in Kennedy's honor.

Senate Democrats shrugged off objections that no one had ever suggested naming the bill in Kennedy's honor while he was alive, and that Kennedy himself (like most Congressemen) had never read the bill. "The bill clearly embodies the ideals and goals which were dearest and most important to this dear dear man whose last name was KENNEDY" stated one senate Democrat.

Some features of the bill cited as reflecting the ideals of the man whose last name was KENNEDY include:

Government rationing of medical care, through bureaucratic decisions not subject to judicial review.
Government determination of what consistitutes "acceptable" medical insurance.
Displacement of private insurance plans by a government-controlled "public" plan.
Government access to private information which it, or some bureaucrat, considers "relevant" to running the plan.
Changes to IRS tax code to obtain additional funding for the plan through taxation of "the wealthy".

Media savants, aging Flower-Children, and fans of the History Channel's "Ancient Civilizations" series expressed enthusiasm for the new selling line. However, it remains unclear how many of the voters whose opinions (at least theoretically) are supposed to hold some say in the matter will be swayed by their memories of that bygone era "When Kennedys (and Johnsons) roamed the earth."

It reads like something from Science-Fiction: The Obama administration suddenly discovered late this Friday that they are going to ring up another 2 trillion dollars in deficits (that's 2,000 billion dollars) that had previously gone unnoticed -- by them. That brings the total even by their own lying-*ss estimates up to 9 trillion (9,000 billion) dollars. I suppose they think if they announce this late on a Friday, people will have forgotten by the time the news cycle starts up again on Monday?

This new, larger Black Hole of unmanageable debt actually corresponds to what the Congresssional Budget Office has been estimating all along, but what lying-ass Obama and his goons have tried to deny. If they are finally admitting it now, you can be assured that the reality is even worse.

Worried about ObamaCare and those "lower premiums" you'll be paying for government-mandated health insurance? Why worry! I'm sure that the drug companies are lobbying for passage of Obamacare -- including up to $150 million spent for TV ads -- because they believe it will reduce their profits! Righto! Even if the drug companies want to turn the program into a new, porker-friendly, government-filled feeding trough, who am I to argue? This is one of the results of passing a bill designed in smoke-filled backrooms by cigar-chomping political hacks with no sense of real responsiblity to those who elected them.

Despite some small glimmers of hope this government-designed monstrosity is still being intended as law. Now is REALLY the time to let our representatives know how we feel, before they pass this Frankenstein's Monster in some midnight session. Here is my take on the new cap-and-trade energy taxes, whose final results will be showing up on our utility bills, and in the prices of anything which energy is used to produce, in the near future:

Another of Obama's Friends

Whatever else you can say for Obama, you sure can't say he chooses his friends well. First we had his racist and rather nutty mentor Jeremiah Wright, and his early political guiding light, Bill Ayers, the domestic terrorist. OK, fair enough. Now we find this unpresidential President using a prime-time news conference to defame the Cambridge MA police department for arresting his "friend" Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates. Obama admitted he didn't know the facts of the case, but went on to call the police "stupid" anyway. Yet from the police report it appears that his "friend" Gates was himself the one who acted stupidly, in fact like a stupid racist, interfering with a white police officer dispatched on report of a break-in into Gates home.

I don't know anything else about Gates, so unlike our President I won't jump to conclusions and say that he is a bigotted black racist, but his behavior on this occasion sure don't look too good. Apparently Obama is now trying to provide cover for his own stupidity in making his initial remarks with his usual brand of wheedling backpeddling. Big O now claims that he didn't mean the police were stupid, just that they acted stupidly, or some half-assed bullshit along these lines. However, the point is that from the police report it appears Gates was the one who was out of line, not the cops. Why not spare us innocent parties the racism song-and-dance routine (we've heard it before) and just fess up that your friend acted like a jerk!

Incidentally, today we heard from the northern Governor in her Washington Post opinion piece, A 'Cap and Tax' Dead End. Strangely enough, this article is about political matters and the economy, not about people's personal lives (or imaginary personal lives, or imaginary slander about personal lives). Maybe some of her critics could try switching to this sort of subject matter themselves.

This is the famous Obama poster from his 2008 presidential campaign... with... err... some small changes to make it better reflect reality. Personally I like this better than Shepard Fairey's poster, but perhaps I'm biased.

A lot of interesting similarities between Sarah Palin and Joan of Arc, who led France to rise against the English... Unflinching women, who come from modest backgrounds ...On a mission from which they will not be deterred... Many people think they are nuts... They prove surprisingly effective in combat... They exert a strange power which their hard-pressed opponents believe to be the result of Witchcraft... Finally, slanderously defamed by their enemies, they are seized on charges of Heresy, imprisoned & after a sham trial, Burnt at the Stake. (Well maybe that last part hasn't happened yet, but some people are trying.)

This graphic is a redo of the WWI poster. Any suggestions for GOOD CAPTION? Would love to hear them. Perhaps something other than "Suivez Moi!" although that might work.

Here comes something new for our Congressional geniuses to screw up - only now its not just our wallets on the line, its our lives. Yipee!

Why is it that I suspect any "hard decisions" made about American's health care will be the ones that are hard for people who need treatment, not hard for trial lawyers, unions or other special interest groups? These "hard decisions" will certainly include more government insolvency, and more taxes.

Obama Wags Finger at Naughty, Naughty Congress

Today an enraged Barack Obama repeatedly wagged his finger at Congressional leaders, taxing them with being "naughty, naughty congressmen" and demanding that they cease their free-spending ways. "Naughty, naughty Congress," said Obama, "you must stop running up deficits of the people's money. ...Where did you EVER get the idea?" In a later news conference, Obama repeated the theme, stating "I am SHOCKED, SHOCKED, to find deficit spending going on here."

Central to the administration's plan for dealing with the newly-discovered problem is a white-magic spell pronounced "Pay-go". According to administration economist Ijust Maekitup, "The phrase Paygo repeated at regular intervals will save-or-create over 5 trillion dollars of deficit savings over the coming four years." In response to a reporter's timid inquiry as to how the five trillion dollar estimate was derived, Maekitup explained "Our numbers estimate one trillion dollars of savings for each letter in the magic phrase, so Paygo with five letters gives you five trillion," adding that "If more savings are required we might consider going to a longer phrase, such as Abracadabra."

News services plan to adopt this new Obama The Deficit Cutter theme for their lead stories in the coming days. Said one prominent editor, "We were planning a weekend puff piece on the theme, Michelle Obama is Elegant & Cultured, Not Crass, Resentful & Nasty-Looking, but now it will be replaced by Obama The Deficit Cutter, which is clearly more believable."

Does he think he won a free shopping spree? Doubling the national debt in a few years and throwing some pixie-dust about how it will all go magically away? This is the "spend your way out of debt" method, used by bankrupts the world over.

One reason political hacks like Obama and Congress spend so much is that its all on YOUR dime. The difference is that if it were your college-age child doing this on your credit card you'd know how to stop it.

Really now, has a more pathological Liar ever greased their way into the presidency? The endless barrow-loads of sweet-scented horse crap seem to distract many from attempts to convert the US into a banana republic on the old South American model.

The Obama Wreckovery

Webster's dictionary defines "wreckovery" as what Democrats are really saying when you think they are using the word "recovery". Thanks to the policy of Mr. Lying-Butt Obama and his minions, we can be assured that the American economy is well on the way to a full wreckovery.
